Calgary Airport Replaces Handicapped Spots With 'Lexus Only' Parking. You know those stupid novelty signs that say things like “Mustang Parking Only” that dorks like to put in their garages? They’re harmless fun, right? Of course they are.

But you know, you could make them a whole lot less harmless if you replaced handicapped spots with signs like that, in exchange for money from one particular car brand. You know, like the Calgary Airport recently did with Lexus. Yep, that’s right, the Calgary Airport Authority in Alberta, Canada turned five !

I’m not kidding about the parking spaces, but after the fecalstorm that followed when a family with access needs found their spaces gone/occupied by gleaming Lexii, I bet the Calgary Airport wishes they were kidding. The family filed a complaint, starting a chain of events that ended with the airport returning the spaces to their original accessible status, and issuing the following statement: “YYC Calgary International Airport would like to apologize to our passengers impacted by the decision to change the location of the accessible parking stalls at the airport; it is clearly out of touch with our commitment to being an accessible facility.”The statement also goes on to make it clear that it was the Airport Authority’s idea to make handicapped spaces into Lexus- only spaces, not Lexus: “For clarity, The Calgary Airport Authority was solely responsible for the selection of the stalls identified for the parking campaign. Lexus Canada did not play a role in selecting, and was not aware of, the locations for the campaign.”I’m sure Lexus appreciated that, but they didn’t want to take chances, so Lexus Canada issued their own statement: “Lexus Canada would like to offer our heartfelt apologies to anyone who may have been affected or offended by a recent marketing campaign at the Calgary airport. We were not aware that accessible parking spaces would be used for this campaign, and have asked the airport to correct the situation as quickly as possible by returning these parking spaces to their intended use.”The Calgary Airport Authority spokesperson did remind everyone that “We’re always looking at different ways to diversify our revenue stream,”which is, you know, great for them, but how the hell did they think this was going to play out?

If there’s a way to spin “airport removes access for disabled people in order to make money” into a positive, I sure as hell don’t know how to do it. The airport’s reasoning is like the motivation for every rich.

The portrayal of America is surprisingly balanced - there is a deep and deadly conspiracy in the story, but the movie does give us plenty of innocent and helpful American characters at the same time. Unfortunately, this interesting balance is about the only good thing I can say about the movie. Certainly I can't blame the filmmakers for the atrocious dubbing, but they are guilty of other things. At 1. 05 minutes, the movie is way too long (and slow) for its own good. Along this tedious journey are some real unbelievable plot elements like the fact the protagonists don't consider contacting the police until very late into the story. The movie is also directed with no sense of style, with no tension or any great feelings coming from the movie at any moment - it always feel flat.

It's capped off with one of the worst opening/closing credits songs I have ever heard in a motion picture. There is the occasional hint of a decent (though not original) thriller here, but as a whole it simply does not work.
